Iwo Jima

We then went to the Iwo Jima memorial. We had been once when Spencer and Kari were here but didn't really get out of the car. It is right on the edge of Arlington Cemetery and there are a lot of pine trees surrounding it. It feels like the forrest. It was fun seeing the girls run down the hill to the monument.
The flag had come loose so it was only hanging on one end so it didn't fly out much. Right when we got there, there was a wedding party that was leaving. The men where all in full dress uniforms. I wish we could have seen them posing. ( I love weddings)
Annie Kate started to get really tired and this was her reaction when we told her we still had one more place to go... shopping at the commissary.
It was so cute because Caroline jumped on Annie Kate's back and she carried her all the way up the hill to where we were parked. I love seeing their "sister power"
Jeff and Sally Jane made too many cute photos and I had to remember this one as well.

This is such an incredible view. It is from the top of the hill where the memorial sits. You can see the Washington monument, the Lincoln Memorial (my personal favorite) and the Capitol as well as the Potomac river. I love that I was able to take this in the fall with the peeks of color.

Those photos are gorgeous. I didn't realize that memorial was so enormous.
