After we went to the library of Congress we ate at Tortilla coast, in the Hill district right next to the Metro. We all love Mexican food and this was so yummy. They make their own tortillas and they are small about 4" round and thick.
The girls were still completely out of control throwing chips and ice. It is funny now to think about.
Caroline was sitting next to me and said, "Hey Mom it tastes like gum!" I said what tastes like gum. She pulled a piece of gum out of her mouth and I said where did you get that. "underneath the table, there is more"
Nice!

When I was in high school I dated a guy who was half Mexican. His little (and I mean little--under five feet!) grandmother lived with them. She always had a Mexican caretaker with her. And they cooked the best food. Their tortillas were amazing! It spoiled the store bought kind for me forever.
Too funny.
This is a great blog. Thanks for sharing your D.C. experiences!
Aargh! Did you get completely sicked out when Caroline showed you the gum she was eating? That makes me nauseous just thinking about it.
Oh, tooooo funny about the gum. Dad was here when I read it to him. He reacted by hitting his forhead by the back of his hand. He couldn't speak!!Then he shook is head with a smile. A typical Grampy reaction.
I read this posting on your blog a couple of weeks ago, and then my husband and I were able to take an unexpected trip to DC last week. One of the things we decided to do was visit the Library of Congress. I was reminded of your blog when I spotted Tortilla Coast! I told the gum story to my husband and we both laughed about it, considering we have a 4 year old that we could imagine doing the very same thing some day! We enjoyed both the Library of Congress and Tortilla Coast! Great recommendations!
