The Awakening

We went by "The Awakening" today. I remember going here in 7th grade on my D.C. trip and wanted to take Spencer and Kari to it. I don't know if anyone thought it was as cool as I did in 7th grade. We took some fun photos.
“The Awakening” is a five part cast aluminum sculpture created by J. Seward Johnson, Jr. for the 1980 International Sculpture Exhibition and Conference. Placed in conjunction with the National Park Service, the “giant” is situated on the grounds of Haines Point and the banks of the Potomac River.
Here is a website of another visitors photos, they are much better than mine.

It is one of my favorites too from Youth Temple trips! I love that statue. I never knew anything about it. Thanks for the info. This website is making me want to come visit BAD!!! Does the D.C. tourism council know about this blog? :)

I've never heard of that before, it seems like something I would have heard about. Very creepy and very cool. Did the kids love it?
